Noah Harris has written another terrific book that draws the reader into the lives of the characters and story.Drake is a head- strong omega who doesn't want to be mated to his packs leader. He longs for a freedom he knows that being mated won't allow him to have. Along the way he meets Stan, a trucker from Texas. Drake decides to try out for an amateur rodeo to earn some cash. The only problem is, he doesn't know a thing about riding a bull. Stan tells him to see Gabe, an ex bull rider who will help him train.
Gabe is a stubborn, lone alpha who has made it a point not to have anything to do with other werewolves since he sent his entire pack away. When he first meets Drake he refuses to help the young omega, but Drake is anything but consistent. He comes back to the dude ranch everyday, hoping to wear Gabe down. Just Wow, Noah Harris has bought together another great story with some western mix in with some shifters. We see some of the difference between Omega and Alpha of werewolves’ packs. What happens when you are being force to mate with someone that you do not like against your wishes, you run. Drake has not really thought things through and when he meets Stan with a chance to earn some money. Gabe has seen what happens with all pack fighting, so what does Alpha do when they can’t stand it anymore. We are taking on wild and crazy ride with these two. The chemistry between Drake and Gabe will rock the pages. Gabe is fighting the pull of drake, because he can’t forget his past. If you like some paranormal with a little twist with western mix in you will really enjoy this one. Highly recommend this book
I enjoyed the story of the Omega Drake who found his strength with in himself and to take a chance on life outside his pack. Great take on male Omegas'. I love how Stan was there when he was needed. Giving insight to all. I was impressed on how Gabe handled everything. Great job Noah!
Once again Noah Harris surprises us with a change of direction. Both stories are set on western ranches and are populated with characters that find both love and redemption in each other. The vivid text transport you to old time western TV Series' but with gay werewolf actors. In Ride of Your Life we follow Alpha rancher and lone wolf, Gabe struggle to resist stubborn and persistent Omega, Drake who wants him to train him as Bull Rider. Drake' s old pack Alpha is hot on his trail and sets sparks thing. As for A Helping Hand, reading this tale was like the episodes of series The Big Valley or Ponderosa flashing behind my eyelids. The human Jesse and his invalid sister Clara hire Mike as a hand on their ranch. Mike is an Alpha lone wolf who has hit bottom. Can he fight off his instincts and keep away from Jesse' s bottom. It's like if Ponderosa' s Adam is not Little Joe's brother but wants to protect Clara him from his mishaps while lusting after his svelte little body. Really enjoyed both stories.
This was a good book about Drake an Omega wolf who needed a change of scenery and saw an opportunity when he noticed a rodeo bull riding sign and decided to take a chance and get away from his pack. Gabe is a lone Alpha with a heartbreaking past and owns and runs a ranch. Drake and Gabe are a magnetic explosive couple. I liked the character's, especially Stan. I liked the idea of a lone Alpha and Omega finding each other but , I really missed the dynamics of a wolf pack in the storyline. It wasn't my favorite for a shifter book, I'm not a big fan of lone wolves. I love reading about the closeness and how they interact with each member of their pack. I really love this author's writing and will continue to read and see how he continues his shifter books.
On craft...
This was a good story. It follows the narrative arc okay until the climax is over. Although, it wasn't much of a climax. I honestly thought that there was a lot more to the story because a.) it didn't really seem like the climax of the whole novel and b.) my said I was only at 58%. I did not realize there was a bonus novella. Everything from the climax to the ending felt rushed. It was like the author was just tired of the story but he had put so much effort into it that he felt he needed to finish it anyway. My other complaint is that there were scores of typos and grammatical errors. It was to the point that I don't know if it had been proofread at all. With that being said, I want to praise Harris with the relationship that he built with Drake and Gabe. The juxtaposition of what they said to their actions and what their minds were thinking really developed a nearly seamless bond that I could definitely feel as the reader. All in all, it needs some revision to help with the climax and beyond, and it also needs proofing and editing. I would definitely like to revisit this story if Harris ever does revise it!
What do you get when a determined Omega on the run and a resistant Alpha hiding from his past collide? Two sexy, stubborn cowboys trying desperately to resist each other. Noah describes the characters and scenes with such detail that you can visualize everything as he draws you deeper into the story. Drake is running from his home and his pack, not wanting to be mated to their Alpha. Gabe is hiding from his painful past. Throw in a meddling, well meaning friend, some bull riding lessons and watch the fire as it slowly smolders into a raging inferno. The emotional journey of Drake and Gabe draws you in and makes it impossible to quit reading until you get to the end! I cannot wait for the next book in the series to see how the story continues to develop!
